Welcome to FTPI! We are glad to have you here participating in our visitor program. General information, office procedures and most commonly asked questions are addressed below. Please feel free to ask our staff any other questions you may have about FTPI or the Twin Cities area during your stay. We hope you have a productive and enjoyable visit here.
Arriving in Minneapolis
The University of Minnesota is served by the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport (MSP). There are both shuttle and taxi services from the airport to hotels on campus.
(The hotel is about 20-25 minutes from the airport by taxi.) To catch
a taxi or shuttle at the airport, after claiming your luggage, follow
signs to the Ground Transportation Center one level below baggage
claim. The cost of a taxi is usually around $30.00 and the shuttle is
about half of that.
Short-term visitors are generally housed at either the Days Inn or Radisson, both a short walk from FTPI. Detailed information will be sent to you by staff upon confirmation of your visit.

Computer Access
Linux and eMac computers are readily available in our offices, as well
as wireless or ethernet access for laptop computers. Please let us know your requirements in advance
of your visit so we may make the appropriate arrangements.
Visa/Green Card
If your travel expenses are being reimbursed and you are not a US citizen, please bring with you both your
passport and visa. If you are a permanent resident with a green card,
please bring that with you (or a copy). We are required to keep copies
of these with expense reimbursement requests.
Seminar Speakers
If you are a visiting speaker, please send us your seminar talk title at least one week prior to your arrival so it can be included in the calendar and announcements. As for the seminar room, there is an LCD projector which can be used if you bring your own laptop, and there are both an overhead projector and a chalkboard.
